Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing has a tradition of excellence in nursing education. The College is dedicated to providing the academic environment to educate all students to meet the challenges of health care now and in the future. Our small classes, diverse student body, state-of-the-art technology, an outstanding faculty, many of whom are doctoral-level prepared, and affiliation with one of the largest health care providers in central Illinois, all contribute to a diverse and rich educational experience.

Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing is fully accredited by both the Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.


Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Completion of the undergraduate program requires completion of 62 semester hours of prenursing courses which are taken at any other college of the student’s choice. Students transfer to Saint Francis for the 62 semester hours of the nursing courses in the junior and senior years. Program totals 124 semester hours. The College accepts transfer students in both the Fall and Spring semesters and also offers a summer session.

Registered Nurse (RN) to BSN Accelerated Pathway
The College offers an accelerated pathway for the RN student. The completion of 62 semester hours of prenursing courses is required. Graduates of state approved diploma or associate degree nursing programs may receive 31 semester hours of credit in the nursing major without examination and must complete 30 semester hours of the nursing courses.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
The MSN program, a 45 semester hour program is offered online and is designed to provide the baccalaureate professional nurse with current advanced knowledge and skills in Medical-Surgical Nursing or Child and Family Nursing, with an option for either clinical practice or education. Also, the College offers an accelerated pathway to the MSN for RNs with a non-nursing baccalaureate degree. In addition, there is a Post Graduate Nurse Educator Certificate and a Post Graduate Clinical Certificate.
