Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science Accelerated Pathway

Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing offers registered nurses (RNs) the opportunity for advanced placement in the baccalaureate program (BSN).  The educational plan for the RN shares the same program goals and objectives of the generic nursing program but provides an accelerated pathway to achieve the BSN.  Completion of the program requires 123 semester hours of course work: 62 hours of general education and support courses in the areas of the humanities, communication, social and behavioral sciences, physical/life sciences and mathematics which are completed at an accredited college or university of student’s choice, and 61 semester hours of study in the nursing major offered by the College.  Upon satisfactory completion of the pre nursing curriculum, the student may be admitted to the program. Graduates of state approved diploma or associate degree nursing programs may receive 31 semester hours of credit in the nursing major without examination upon satisfactory completion of the specified courses according to College policy.
