OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Education Student Loan Program (Undergraduates)

This program is designed to provide educational assistance to qualified students who are enrolled full-time at the College of Nursing and are willing to commit to employment at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center following graduation.  Maximum assistance is $4,000 per semester. The number of agreements awarded each semester is determined by OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in consultation with the College of Nursing. 

The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time (12 to 16 hours) student at the College of Nursing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0; supply two College of Nursing faculty references and two current/former employer references; participate in an interview; and be a citizen of the United States or qualify for permanent residency according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, a Department of Homeland Security, provide a typed 1 page essay, and complete an authorization form to release information/award information. 

If awarded, the applicant must sign an agreement and promissory note. Upon graduation, the ESL recipient must apply for a position at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, (job class 65170), for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 36 months of employment.

The applicant shall understand that continuance of this assistance is on a semester by semester basis and shall depend on maintenance of an overall  grade point average of 3.0, satisfactory grades in each clinical course, satisfactory status in the College of Nursing, and favorable references from the Dean and the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Human Resources. Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in discontinuance of the agreement by OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and repayment of the advanced funds received by the student.  If unable to fulfill contract, student must repay assistance received.

Financial Assistance Programs for Nursing Students (Undergraduate)

The Medical Center offers a scholarship program to provide financial assistance to senior nursing students.  The program is open to second semester junior and senior year nursing students at the College of Nursing.  The student must contract for full-time employment as a Registered Nurse following graduation.  Persons failing to honor this commitment will reimburse OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for scholarship monies received.  To obtain further information, students may call OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Nurse Recruitment Department 309-655-4008.


OSF Saint Francis Medical Center – Building Bridges Summer Extern Program

The Medical Center offers a 10 week educational program for senior nursing students.  Application and further information can be obtained from the OSF SFMC Recruiting Office at 309-655-4008.


Tuition Assistance for Employees Attending Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing 
(Undergraduate & Graduate)

The Medical Center offers a tuition waiver (up to 18 hours per academic year) to qualified employees attending Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing.  This program requires an agreement between the employee and the Medical Center outlining the employee's eligibility status, employment commitment and the grade requirement.
