The research process as an integral part of advanced practice nursing is analyzed and applied to current practice. The role of the nurse researcher at a master's level is discussed. Advanced study designs are examined by critiquing peer revised research articles. Critique and utilization of research studies are discussed. The proposal for the student's research project is prepared. Integration of evidenced-based practice is completed through critique of published practice changes. Students have the option to complete a clinical inquiry project related to potential practice changes by using research and current clinical practice guidelines from Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) or national guidelines clearinghouse.
