549 Neonatal Management I

This course focuses on the synthesis and application of knowledge regarding the health problems of the critically ill and high-risk neonate in the neonatal intensive care unit. Students demonstrate an understanding of essential intensive care nursery concepts, skill, and equipment necessary for completing direct bedside assessment and care of neonates in a safe manner. The theoretical basis, indications and complications for these skills are emphasized. The use of specific interventions and diagnostic procedures are demonstrated and applied during the 32 hrs of required clinical activities.
