This course provides an authoritative and comprehensive overview of the key strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of managed health care and health insurance. Managed health care in Medicare and Medicaid at both the corporate and hospital level will be examined. Course content focuses on important topics such as patient safety, HIPAA, ambulatory care center design and planning, healthcare information systems, and management of nursing systems. A historical overview and a discussion of taxonomy and functional differences between different forms of managed health care which provide the framework for the operational aspects of the industry will be addressed as well.
