Description of Program
Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing provides a 16 hour post graduate nursing clinician certificate which requires the student to complete the 3 courses for Adult Gerontology (517, 519, and 529) or the 3 courses for Child and Family (523, 527, and 529) plus the 610 practicum course. Course 517 and 523 both have 64 practicum hours. This would give the post graduate student a total of 512 practicum hours. Applicants are required to have a current RN license and show evidence of graduation from an accredited Masters in Nursing program

Post Graduate Nurse Educator Certificate
Description of Program
Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing provides both a 9 and 15 hour post graduate nurse educator certificate offering for those who currently have a Masters Degree and would wish to acquire a Nursing Education Certificate. Students may take selected courses to fit their needs without pursuing a certificate. Students may enroll in 532, 536 and 540 and/or 600 the practicum.
Graduate students who enroll in the nursing educator post graduate certificate option will be prepared to design and use multiple educational delivery systems and teaching strategies to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum that will prepare nurses who are responsive to current and future healthcare systems. This option is designed to prepare nurse educators with teaching strategies for nursing education, service and clinical practice. The educator courses are online and the student learns design and curriculum development.

Post Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certificate
Description of Program
The Family Nurse Practitioner Post Graduate Certificate (FNP/PGC) option is a 26-32 credit hour program that prepares those who currently have a Masters in Nursing Degree and wish to acquire a Family Nurse Practitioner Post Graduate Certificate to care for adults and children of all ages with essential focus on family and community.
The FNP/ PGC program focuses on continual and comprehensive, wellness and illness care to individuals across the lifespan to assist with illness management, health promotion, and health education. Graduate (FNP/PGC) students will be prepared to assume leadership roles for the targeted populations in the primary settings. The FNP/PGC practicum experience provides the post graduate student the opportunity to practice with a preceptor.
Upon successful completion of the Master of Science in Nursing FNP/PGC option the graduate will be eligible to seek certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Following successful certification the graduate applies to the Department of Professional Regulation for licensure as an advance practice nurse for practice in their State.
